Saudi Gazette report
DUMAT AL-JANDAL — A Saudi bus driver saved six female teachers from certain death after their bus caught fire following a traffic accident that occurred early on Sunday in the Abu Ajram area of Dumat Al-Jandal governorate in the northern Al-Jouf region.

The driver, Abdul Salam Al-Sharari, said that that he managed to break the rear window of the bus and pull the teachers away from the flames one by one. The accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on the Sakaka-Tabarjal road, after the bus carrying the teachers collided with a truck. The impact caused the front of the bus to catch fire, trapping the teachers inside amidst thick smoke.

Al-Sharari explained that he was driving directly behind the bus, while another driver was ahead of him, when he witnessed the collision and the outbreak of the fire. He immediately stopped his bus and rushed to the scene.

Al-Sharari immediately began trying to evacuate the teachers by breaking the rear window of the bus, relying first on God, and then on another driver and several young men who were at the scene. The teachers were brought out one by one in a race against time, amidst the smoke and rising flames.

Al-Sharari noted that one of the teachers was in a state of extreme panic and kept repeating while trapped inside the bus: "Please, don't let the fire consume me." He emphasized that he tried to calm her down, saying: "Don't worry... God willing, you'll get out."

Al-Sharari confirmed that the bus was completely engulfed in flames just moments after the last teacher was brought out, indicating that any delay of even a few minutes would have allowed the fire to reach the interior of the vehicle, which would have led to tragic consequences. Al-Sharari said that the bus driver and all the teachers were in stable condition. All received the necessary medical care at Abu Ajram Hospital.

The accident sparked widespread reaction on social media platforms, where clips and photos from the scene of the accident were circulated, amid calls to honor Al-Sharari, who said in a widely circulated clip: "Thank God for everyone's safety... what happened is not heroism, but a blessing from God."
