Crown Prince meets UN Secretary General and Eritrean President

RIYADH — Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman met with United Nations Secretary General António Guterres at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Wednesday.


During the meeting, the leaders reviewed regional and international developments. They discussed ways to support efforts aimed at enhancing global security and stability.


The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan; Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and National Security Advisor Musaed Al-Aiban; and Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel.


Attending from the United Nations were Undersecretary General and High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Ángel Moratinos and Assistant Secretary General and Director of the Executive Office of the UN Secretary General Miguel Graça.

Also on Wednesday, the Crown Prince held talks with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki. During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as prospects for cooperation across various fields and ways to advance them. A number of issues of mutual interest were also figured in their talks.


The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan; Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet, and National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban; and Saudi Ambassador to Eritrea Meshal bin Hamdan Al-Roqi.


From the Eritrean side, the meeting was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Osman Saleh Mohammed and Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Eritrea in Riyadh Weini Gerezgiher.
