Rainfall to continue in most Saudi regions

RIYADH — The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) said in its weather forecast on Wednesday that rainfall would continue across most regions of Saudi Arabia.


Moderate to heavy thunderstorms, leading to flash floods, accompanied by hail and strong winds, would hit parts of the Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Riyadh, Eastern Province, and Northern Borders regions. Light to moderate rain is expected in parts of the Hail, Tabuk, and Al-Jouf regions, as well as in parts of the southwestern highlands of the Kingdom. There is also a chance for fog in some of these regions.

The NCM explained that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to northerly in the northern and central parts and southeasterly to southerly in the southern part, with speeds of 18-40 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h. Sea conditions will be moderate to rough, with thunderstorms and rain also expected towards the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Meanwhile, surface winds over the Arabian Gulf will be southeasterly to southerly, with speeds of 10-35 km/h, reaching over 60 km/h. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, reaching over two and a half meters, with thunderstorms and rain in the northern part. Sea conditions will range from slight to moderate, becoming rough, with thunderstorms and rain in the northern part.
