Senior scholars laud Grand Mufti’s efforts in disseminating Islamic knowledge

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan received members of the Council of Senior Scholars at his office in Riyadh on Thursday.

The scholars congratulated Sheikh Al-Fawzan over his appointment as the Grand Mufti, chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars and head of the General Presidency for Scientific Research and Ifta. They hailed the Grand Mufti’s profound scholarship and his efforts in disseminating Islamic knowledge. Speaking on the occasion, the Grand Mufti said: “God Almighty has blessed us with this religion and with this secure country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which derives its approach from the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace be upon him). It is honored to serve the Two Holy Mosques and its rulers exert great efforts to serve Islam and Muslims,” he said, adding “I ask God Almighty to reward Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince with the best of rewards, and to protect our country and all Muslim countries.”

Sheikh Al-Fawzan expressed his gratitude to the members of the Council of Senior Scholars, affirming the council’s continued commitment to its approach of reviewing the inquiries and legal questions referred to it by various entities and individuals, in accordance with its jurisdiction.

The reception was attended by Secretary General of the Council of Senior Scholars and the Permanent Committee for Fatwas, and General Supervisor of Grand Mufti’s Office Sheikh Dr. Fahd Al-Majid.
