RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh hosted on Sunday the High-Level Coordination Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia, Norway, and the European Union.

On the top of the meeting's agenda were issues such as support for the Palestinian Authority, humanitarian aid access to Gaza, implementation of the New York Declaration and US President Donald Trump's Gaza Peace Plan, according to the European Union Mission to the Gulf region. The mission sources stated that during the meeting the European side was headed by Christophe Bigot, the European Union's Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan inaugurated the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution between Palestinians and Israelis, led by Saudi Arabia with the participation of Arab and Islamic countries and European partners, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York in September 2024.

Prince Faisal affirmed at the time that implementing the two-state solution is the optimal solution to break the cycle of conflict and suffering and establish a new reality in which the entire region, including Israel, enjoys security and coexistence. He remarked then: "Today, on behalf of the Arab and Islamic countries and our European partners, we announce the launch of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, and we invite you to join this initiative, affirming that we will spare no effort to achieve a credible and irreversible path to a just and comprehensive peace. We look forward to hearing what you have to offer to contribute to ending this conflict, in order to preserve international peace and security."

The High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution," co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France in September 2025, called on Israel to seize the opportunity for peace, declare a clear commitment to the solution, end acts of violence and incitement against Palestinians, halt settlement activity, land confiscation, and annexation in the occupied territories, and put an end to settler violence.

The conference urged Israel to withdraw the "E1 Project" and publicly abandon any annexation plan, stressing that "any form of annexation is a red line for the international community, entailing serious consequences and posing a direct threat to existing and future peace agreements."

The conference resulted in the adoption of the "New York Declaration," which received overwhelming majority support from the UN General Assembly with votes of 142 countries, affirming "the unwavering international commitment to the two-state solution and charting an irreversible path to building a better future for Palestinians, Israelis, and all peoples of the region."
