GENEVA — Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva Abdulmohsen Bin Khothaila emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to achieving sustainable economic transformation as part of its Vision 2030. He highlighted the Kingdom’s key achievements in the areas of national industry, logistics, transportation, and smart services.

Delivering Saudi Arabia’s address at the general debate of the 16th UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD16) in Geneva on Tuesday, Bin Khothaila underscored the Kingdom's dedication to diversifying its sources of income and fostering a more competitive and inclusive economy. The debate was held under the theme "Shaping the future: Driving economic transformation for equitable, inclusive and sustainable development.”

In his speech, Bin Khothaila pointed out that Saudi Arabia is working to establish itself as a major global hub for supply chains and international trade, and continues to invest in developing strategic ports, economic zones, and smart transportation infrastructure, aligning these efforts with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and UNCTAD's vision for a balanced, integrated global economy. He also highlighted the Kingdom’s leadership in digital transformation, noting its digital transformation strategy, which has made technology and innovation central to various sectors.

Bin Khothaila emphasized Saudi Arabia’s collaboration with UNCTAD and international partners to promote the digital economy, empower startups, and foster entrepreneurship. He also touched on the Kingdom's commitment to global development, noting that the Saudi Fund for Development continues to support vital projects across more than 90 countries, focusing on infrastructure, education, health, and energy.

The ambassador emphasized that, guided by its core values and bolstered by its economic, regional, and international standing, the Kingdom believes that true development is not defined solely by economic metrics, but by its tangible, positive impact on the lives of people around the world.
