MAKKAH — The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced on Friday that the number of Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah during the current Hijri month of Rabi’ Al-Akhir reached 13,029,471.
At the Grand Mosque, the number of visitors totaled 4,197,055, including 22,786 who prayed at Hijr Ismail (Al-Hateem). The number of Umrah pilgrims reached 2,887,516.
The authority also reported that the Prophet’s Mosque received 179,088,5 visitors, including 355,532 who prayed in Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah. Meanwhile, 478,403 visitors offered greetings to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his two Companions.
The authority noted that it employs advanced technology, including sensor readers, at the main entrances of both mosques to monitor the number of visitors and pilgrims. The system enhances operational efficiency by tracking crowd flows and supporting authorities in managing them, as part of its partnership with relevant entities.
