RIYADH —
Al Shabab Club has announced the departure of its Portuguese coach, Vítor Pereira, after he exercised his right to terminate his contract and committed to paying the release clause.

The club stated that it made extensive efforts to retain Pereira but was unsuccessful. Consequently, the management has begun searching for a replacement, reviewing several potential candidates.

According to Sky Sports, Wolverhampton Wanderers, a Premier League club, has reached an agreement with Pereira to take over as their new head coach following the dismissal of Gary O'Neil.

Pereira, 56, has previously managed Flamengo, Fenerbahçe, Olympiacos, Porto, and several other clubs.

Wolverhampton reportedly agreed to compensate Al Shabab and finalize personal terms with Pereira, who is expected to sign a one-and-a-half-year contract.

The decision to hire Pereira follows Wolverhampton's struggles in the Premier League, where they sit second to last with nine points from 16 matches.

The team's recent 2-1 home loss to newly promoted Ipswich Town extended their losing streak to four games.

Wolverhampton parted ways with O'Neil on Sunday after a winless streak left the club in the relegation zone.
