RIYADH — Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his deep connection to Saudi Arabia and his belief in the Kingdom’s development and tourism ambitions during the 2025 Tourism Summit in Riyadh.

“I wish to be part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to host the World Cup in 2034,” Ronaldo said, adding that he loves AlUla and the Red Sea project and believes strongly in the Kingdom’s tourism vision.

Ronaldo, who has lived in Riyadh since joining Al Nassr three years ago, said his decision to move to Saudi Arabia was the right one.

“When I moved to Saudi Arabia, they all called me crazy, but I think I’m a good crazy,” he said.

“They found out I was right because I believe in the project, because the passion of the Saudis for football is amazing. I also believe in the country's tourism. The Crown Prince pushed a lot of the country to be good, and of course, I’m part of the project. I’m here to help with my experience, with my knowledge, with my fan base. I’m happy to be here, and my family is happy here, and the country is brilliant.”

The Portuguese forward said he has full confidence in “the capability and ambition of the Saudi development project” and hopes to continue contributing to it. “I want to be part of the big project in Saudi Arabia,” he said.

“I consider myself Saudi and love being in the Kingdom and helping in various sectors. I moved to Saudi Arabia because I believe in the Kingdom’s capabilities and the capabilities of the sports teams here.”

Ronaldo added that he is enjoying his time in the country and briefly reflected on his future. “I’m enjoying every moment right now, and when I talk about retirement, it might mean in two years,” he said.
