ALQASSIM — Al Ahli secured a valuable 1-0 away win over Al Fayha in Round 11 of the Saudi Pro League, with the lone goal scored by Algerian international Riyad Mahrez.
For the first time this season, Al Ahli managed back-to-back wins in the league. Before their recent surge, the team had collected four scattered victories.
After defeating Al Raed in the previous round, Al Ahli followed up with a triumph against Al Fayha, raising their points tally to 17.
Riyad Mahrez earned and converted a penalty in the 21st minute of the first half, coolly placing the ball into the net to secure the only goal of the match, played at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah.
The victory provides Al Ahli with a significant morale boost ahead of their much-anticipated clash against UAE’s Al Ain on Monday in the AFC Champions League Elite stage.
Al Ahli has been performing impressively in the competition, maintaining a perfect record with four wins from four matches.
Meanwhile, Al Fayha remains in 16th place in the league standings with just 7 points, having suffered their sixth defeat of the season.
Earlier, Al-Ahli has confirmed that star striker Ivan Toney will miss the match against Al-Fayha due to illness and his need for rest. The club announced that Toney will undergo further medical examinations in the coming hours to assess his condition.
