RIYADH — Saudi students Budour Al-Jahni, Rima Al-Mohammadi and Reem Al-Harbi, from Rabigh, which is under the Jeddah Education Directorate, have won at the Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior Competition organized by Microsoft to enable students to develop their technological skills using the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and computing skills. Over 100 countries took part in the competition.

The students, aged 13 to 18 and participating under the "Shiny Stars" team, came from around the world. They endeavor to use AI to find solutions to the world's biggest challenges.

Among the winning projects from the Kingdom's students was one in which a smart chip is connected to a smartphone application compatible with all spoken and written human languages to enable communication between patients with aphasia and other people by translating speech into a readable or audible text. — SPA
