Saudi foreign minister attends Paris meeting on Gaza peace plan and ceasefire steps

PARIS —
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Thursday attended the ministerial meeting hosted by France in Paris to discuss the U.S. Gaza peace plan and next steps toward achieving a ceasefire.

The meeting brought together the foreign ministers and representatives of Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, and Canada, along with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas.

At the opening, participants welcomed the agreement reached between the parties to halt hostilities, exchange prisoners, and release hostages, marking the start of the first phase of the peace process.

The ministers also reviewed the mediation efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye, and discussed ways to support the implementation of the U.S. peace plan in line with the New York Declaration, with the goal of achieving a sustainable political path toward lasting peace in Gaza and the wider region.
