ADEN — Members of Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council and its affiliated bodies announced on Friday the dissolution of the council in preparation for participating in the Southern Dialogue Conference scheduled to be held in Riyadh.
In a statement, the members said the council had failed to achieve its intended objectives.
They added that they were not involved in the decision to launch the military operation in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahrah, which they said harmed the southern cause.
The statement noted that Abu Zara’a Al-Mahrami and Ahmed Saeed bin Brik were present during the meeting held earlier on Friday.
The signatories called on southern figures and influential leaders to engage in the dialogue track, expressing hope that the Riyadh Conference would produce a clear vision and framework for resolving the southern issue.
They also thanked Saudi Arabia for hosting the upcoming Southern Dialogue Conference.
