MADINAH — The Saudi Red Crescent Authority's ambulance and volunteer teams in Madinah saved the life of a 63-year-old Umrah pilgrim from Thailand. They swung into action within one minute after receiving information that the pilgrim suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest near the Prophet's Mosque.
The authority explained that a report was received at the Medical Relocation Center at 8:08 p.m. on Saturday regarding a fainting case. Field teams responded to the situation within just one minute, at 8:09 p.m., demonstrating their high level of preparedness and rapid response.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the pilgrim had suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest. Approved medical protocols were immediately implemented, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was initiated. An additional support team was dispatched to the scene. The swift professional intervention successfully restored the pilgrim’s pulse.
The patient was then transferred to Al-Safiya Health Center for further medical care. This success embodies the high level of integration and readiness between the ambulance and volunteer teams, and confirms the importance of rapid reporting and response in dealing with critical cases within the courtyard of the Prophet’s Mosque, due to its direct impact on saving lives.
