RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 38,340 amphetamine pills concealed inside a postal shipment arriving at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

ZATCA spokesperson Hammoud Al-Harbi said the illicit drugs were discovered during routine customs procedures after the package was inspected using advanced security technologies and live detection methods.

Following the seizure, coordination was carried out with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the arrest of two individuals inside the Kingdom who were set to receive the shipment.

Al-Harbi reaffirmed ZATCA’s continued commitment to strengthening customs oversight across all land, sea, and air ports to prevent smuggling attempts, emphasizing that these efforts form a core pillar of the authority’s strategy to protect society and enhance national security.

He also urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling activities by reporting suspicious cases through ZATCA’s dedicated hotline 1910, via email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or through the international number +9661910.

Reports are handled with full confidentiality, and financial rewards are granted when information proves accurate.
