RIYADH — The Arab Coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government announced that the Royal Saudi Naval Forces have completed their deployment in the Arabian Sea to carry out inspection operations and combat smuggling activities.
The deployment is part of ongoing efforts to counter illicit trade and prevent the smuggling of weapons amid developments on the Yemeni front.
The move aligns with broader regional security measures aimed at curbing illegal maritime activity and reinforcing stability in surrounding waters.
Saudi Arabia operates two main naval fleets: the Eastern Fleet in the Arabian Gulf and the Western Fleet in the Red Sea. Each fleet includes combat vessels, logistical and technical support units, naval aviation, marine forces, and specialized maritime security units.
The Arabian Sea has recently witnessed multiple interdiction operations, including the foiling of a major drug-smuggling attempt during missions conducted by Combined Task Force 150, which is currently led by the Royal Saudi Naval Forces.
The operation was carried out as part of the focused mission codenamed “Al-Masmik,” under the command and coordination of CTF-150, within ongoing international efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and other illicit activities on the high seas.
