MOSCOW — Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Russia has confirmed that the mutual visa-free travel agreement between the two countries has not yet entered into force.
In a statement posted on X, the embassy said the agreement’s implementation remains subject to the completion of required legal and procedural steps by both sides, in accordance with approved frameworks.
The embassy stressed that an official announcement will be made once the agreement has been formally approved by the competent authorities in Saudi Arabia and Russia and a start date for its implementation has been finalized.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced on Dec. 1, 2025, that the two countries signed the mutual visa exemption agreement on the sidelines of the Saudi-Russian Business Forum in Riyadh.
The agreement is intended to allow Saudi and Russian citizens to enter each other’s countries without a visa once it comes into effect.
