Saudi interior minister checks on officer injured at Grand Mosque, praises bravery

MAKKAH — Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif called a security officer who was injured while performing his duties at the Grand Mosque, commending his courage and dedication.

During the phone call, the minister checked on the health of soldier Rayan bin Saeed bin Yahya Al-Ahmad, who was hurt while responding to an incident at the Grand Mosque.

Prince Abdulaziz praised the officer’s bravery, vigilance and professionalism in carrying out his security duties.

The minister said the officer’s actions reflected the high values upheld by Saudi security personnel in serving religion and the nation.

He described the intervention as a humanitarian act that went beyond the call of duty and demonstrated readiness and professional competence in dealing with emergencies at the Grand Mosque.

Prince Abdulaziz also highlighted the continued support and attention security personnel receive from the Kingdom’s leadership in recognition of their efforts to safeguard the Grand Mosque and pilgrims.

He said this support serves as a key motivation for continued excellence in security work.

The minister concluded the call by praying for the officer’s swift recovery and safe return to duty.

The incident occurred when a man jumped from an upper level of the Grand Mosque.

The officer was injured while attempting to prevent the man from hitting the ground. Both were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
