MAKKAH — The Special Forces for the Security of the Grand Mosque responded to an incident in which a man jumped from the upper levels of the Grand Mosque, authorities said on Thursday.

The force said a security officer was injured while attempting to prevent the man from hitting the ground during the fall.

Both the individual and the injured officer were transferred to hospital to receive necessary medical care.

Authorities said legal procedures are being completed in accordance with applicable regulations.
