RIYADH — World-renowned British architect Norman Foster paid a landmark visit to the Red Sea destination, where he reviewed the transformation of his architectural concepts into completed luxury tourism projects along Saudi Arabia’s coastline, brought to life by Saudi engineers.

During the visit, Foster toured key developments across the destination and examined the execution phases of designs he created years earlier, which have since become a defining element of Saudi Arabia’s emerging architectural identity in high-end tourism.

Foster expressed strong admiration for what has been achieved on the ground, praising the precision of execution, the quality of detailing, and the seamless integration between architecture and the surrounding natural environment.

He said the projects reflect an ambitious vision that goes beyond conventional architectural boundaries.

The visit echoed remarks previously made by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who described Foster as “great” while praising his final design for Abha’s new airport, calling it “an airport worthy of Abha.”

The statement has since been widely seen as a reflection of a broader architectural vision that is now materializing across the Kingdom’s flagship developments including the Red Sea’s airport and resorts, designed with high environmental sensitivity and harmony with coastal landscapes.

Foster is regarded as one of the most influential architects globally, known for designs that have reshaped city skylines and for his bold integration of technology into architecture.

He is also among the leading architects contributing to Saudi Arabia’s future-focused projects, having been involved in the design of several landmark developments in NEOM and the Red Sea.
