ASHGABAT — Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed that lasting peace cannot be achieved through agreements alone, emphasizing trust-building, honest dialogue and inclusive development as essential pillars for sustainable stability.
Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji said true peace is a long-term process that begins with building trust step by step, followed by courageous and sincere dialogue, and culminates in comprehensive and fair development that transforms people from victims of conflict into partners in rebuilding.
Al-Khuraiji made the remarks while representing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the International Forum for Peace and Trust, held on Friday in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
He expressed Saudi Arabia’s appreciation to Turkmenistan for its initiative at the United Nations General Assembly, which led to the adoption of a resolution designating 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
He said the initiative aims to strengthen dialogue, encourage cooperation and promote the principles of mutual respect globally.
Al-Khuraiji highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in preventive diplomacy, which focus on mediation, peaceful conflict resolution, regional stability, humanitarian assistance, and fostering dialogue among cultures and religions, in addition to supporting international organizations.
