Saudi Gazette report
RIYADH —The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has approved regulatory requirements for event and exhibition halls. This is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop the business environment, as well as to raise compliance levels with municipal regulations, and enhance investment attractiveness in the sector.

The ministry explained that the requirements include conditions for obtaining a municipal license, such as submitting a valid commercial registration and obtaining Civil Defense approval. The requirements stipulate that the halls’ locations must comply with planning regulations within or outside urban areas. The requirements also include precise organization of interior spaces, including the main hall, hospitality facilities, reception areas, and service areas.

The ministry clarified that these requirements aimed to regulate the operation of event and exhibition halls designated for commercial, entertainment, or cultural use, according to clear technical, architectural, and operational standards. This will contribute to raising safety and efficiency levels and improving the experience for investors and beneficiaries.

The ministry emphasized the necessity of adhering to the urban building code or approved urban planning guidelines in the area where the activity is located. This includes compliance with fire prevention and protection requirements, the installation of surveillance cameras, and ensuring comprehensive accessibility for people with disabilities through the provision of accessible entrances, ramps, and parking spaces.

The ministry indicated that these requirements are part of a comprehensive regulatory framework aimed at enhancing the quality of services, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the local economy, in line with the objectives of sustainable urban development within the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
