MONTREAL —
The Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has elected Mohammed Habib, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the Council, as Chair of the Technical Cooperation and Implementation Support Committee (TCC) for one-year term. The election took place during the Council's 236th session held in Montreal, Canada.

This underscores the Kingdom's role within ICAO and its strategic importance among nations worldwide in the civil aviation and air transport industry. This election reflects the Council's confidence in the Kingdom's role in supporting capacity building for member states to enhance compliance with international civil aviation standards, ensuring the safety, security, and sustainability of the sector. It also reflects global confidence in Saudi expertise and capabilities.

It is noteworthy that the ICAO Council is the organization's permanent executive body, comprising 36 member states elected for three-year terms. It sets general policies and the budget and makes decisions between sessions of the assembly.

The Council has several committees under its umbrella, including the Technical Cooperation and Implementation Support Committee (TCC), which advises the Council on policies and programs for technical cooperation, capacity building, and training.
