SAMARKAND — Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan reaffirmed that the Kingdom, in cooperation with its international partners, continues its efforts to promote the values of tolerance and moderation.
Prince Badr made the remarks while participating in the 43rd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), held from October 30 to November 13 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
In his address, the minister expressed pride in the strong partnership between Saudi Arabia and UNESCO since 1946, highlighting the Kingdom’s continuous support for the organization’s noble goals under the guidance of the Saudi leadership.
He expressed optimism about achieving further joint milestones following decades of successful collaboration.
Prince Badr noted that Saudi Arabia has made remarkable progress in education, culture, and science both domestically and internationally. Through its active membership in UNESCO’s Executive Board, the Kingdom has supported the organization’s strategies and strengthened its ability to implement key programs.
He also highlighted that 136 countries have benefited from the Saudi Fund for the Preservation of Culture and Heritage, emphasizing that UNESCO’s decision to select Saudi Arabia as the host of the next World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT) in 2029 reflects the Kingdom’s pivotal role in advancing global cultural cooperation.
Prince Badr underscored the vital role of culture as a civilizational bridge fostering dialogue among peoples and as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
Concluding his speech, he said: “The Kingdom’s wide-ranging achievements across all sectors are a tangible translation of Saudi Vision 2030, which places education, culture, and science at the heart of national development.”
