RIYADH — The Saudi Health Council has called on private healthcare providers to adhere to regulations governing the use and protection of the Saudi Red Crescent emblem and name, and related symbols. The regulations prohibit their use without a license and stipulate penalties of up to one-year imprisonment and a fine of up to SR1 million for violations.
The Council emphasized that the regulations governing the use and protection of the Red Crescent emblem and name, and related symbols, have entered into force. The Council stressed the importance of complying with these regulations within the framework of humanitarian and health regulations aimed at achieving integration and comprehensiveness.
Article 10 of the Regulations for the Use and Protection of the Red Crescent Emblem and Name and Related Items, stipulates that, without prejudice to any more severe penalty stipulated in another regulation, anyone who uses the emblem or name of the Red Crescent, or related items, without obtaining a license from the authority or approval from the ministry, as applicable, shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year and a fine not exceeding SR1 million, or by either of these penalties. The same penalty applies to anyone who uses the emblem or name of the Red Crescent, or related items, in a manner inconsistent with the terms of the license and without legitimate justification.
Article 11 of the regulations further stipulates that anyone who uses the emblem with malicious intent during armed conflicts shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 years.
