4.34-magnitude earthquake hits northeast of Khafji, posing no harm

RIYADH —
A 4.34-magnitude earthquake hit the Arabian Gulf, about 160 kilometers northeast of Khafji, at 12:27 am on Sunday.
It was revealed by Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) Spokesman Tariq Abalkhail.
He said that the earthquake occurred in the Arabian Gulf, geographically distant from Saudi territory.
“The SGS continuously monitors all seismic activity within the Kingdom and its surroundings through a network of scientifically distributed monitoring stations,” he said while stressing that the situation in Saudi Arabia remains normal and safe, with no indicators or expectations of any seismic activity.
Abalkhail noted that the tremors recorded recently are very weak on the Richter scale and pose no risk to any areas within the Kingdom.
