RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) foiled an attempt to smuggle 47,927 amphetamine (Captagon) pills at the Al-Haditha border crossing after the drugs were found hidden inside a truck entering the Kingdom, the agency said.

Spokesman Hamoud Al-Harbi said the shipment was intercepted during customs procedures using security screening technologies and live detection means.
The pills were concealed within the truck’s consignment, he added.

Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the intended recipients inside the Kingdom. Four suspects were taken into custody.

Al-Harbi said ZATCA will continue tightening customs controls at all land, sea, and air entry points to deter smuggling attempts, as part of the authority’s strategy to enhance community safety and protect society from narcotics and other prohibited items.

He urged the public to help combat smuggling by reporting violations.
He noted that all reports are handled confidentially and eligible tipsters may receive a financial reward if their information proves accurate.
