RIYADH — Talal Al-Shalhoub, security spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior, revealed that the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), in coordination with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), arrested six Pakistani residents in the Riyadh Region. The suspects were caught while taking delivery of 71 kilograms of methamphetamine.
In another development, Al-Shalhoub stated that intelligence shared by the GDNC with its Omani counterpart led to the foiling of two smuggling attempts. The operations resulted in the seizure of over 200 kilograms of narcotics. Al-Shalhoub lauded the effective and ongoing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Oman in tracking and intercepting criminal networks.
He affirmed that Saudi Arabia will continue to monitor criminal activities that target its security and youth through drugs, confront and thwart such attempts, and arrest those involved.
Al-Shalhoub urged the public to report any information regarding drug smuggling or trafficking. Residents in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province should call 911, while those in other regions can dial 999. Reports related to smuggling crimes can be submitted confidentially to the GDNC at 995, he added.
