RIYADH — The Riyadh International Book Fair 2025 has been witnessing a large turnout of book fans representing various segments of the Saudi society, including citizens and expatriates. The gates of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University saw visitors packing from the first hours of its opening, all eager to explore the latest in the world of books.

Publishing houses at the fair received a great deal of attention, and the event was noted for its high-quality organization and the provision of excellent services for visitors, exhibitors, and guests. The reading pavilions and various workshops and cultural events held on the sidelines of the fair were crowded with attendees.

Visitors praised the quality of books available and highlighted the significant cultural, scientific, literary, and intellectual renaissance experienced across the Kingdom.

The Saudi Authors Booth at the fair displays books by local writers, blending arts and sciences. A free initiative by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, the booth serves as a crucial platform for Saudi creative, who face high costs and stringent terms from publishing houses.

The booth targets authors without existing publishing contracts. To join, authors register online by submitting their book and authorization details for verification. Once approved, their books are displayed, with all sales proceeds deposited directly into their personal accounts.

The Riyadh International Book Fair 2025, which kicked off at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University last Thursday, will run until October 11. Organized by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, the festival of books features over 2,000 local and international publishing houses from more than 25 countries, alongside various cultural institutions.

Uzbekistan is the guest of honor during this year’s fair, which features participation from the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, including performances and collaborations with Uzbek artists. The fair includes seminars, lectures, poetry evenings, and workshops with participation of prominent writers and thinkers.
