RIYADH — The High Supervisory Committee of the “History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques” project discussed plans to establish a permanent museum dedicated to the history of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques.

The meeting was chaired by Prince Faisal bin Salman, special advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and chairman of the board of King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah).

The project aims to create a comprehensive knowledge reference documenting the history of the Two Holy Mosques and the rituals of Hajj and Umrah across the ages, while recording major transformations in their service.

The initiative enjoys the patronage of King Salman and ongoing support from Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Originally conceived as an academic encyclopedia under the title “Encyclopedia of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques,” it has since expanded into a pioneering national initiative managed by Darah in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah through the Guests of God Service Program.

The committee’s agenda included the announcement of the “Historical Events in the Prophet’s Biography: Perspectives on Research and Documentation” forum, to be held in Madinah alongside the Umrah Forum.

Members also reviewed updates on the Hajj and Two Holy Mosques History Forum, preparations for the exhibition on the same theme, and progress on the wider project.

The committee includes leading scholars and officials such as Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid, Imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque; Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, secretary general of the Muslim World League; Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah and head of the Guests of God Service Program; Dr. Fahd Al-Sammari, board member of Darah and head of the Studies and Publishing Committee; Dr. Khalid Al-Bakr, professor of Islamic history at King Saud University; Eng. Anas Sairafi, committee member; Eng. Mohammed Ismail, CEO of the Guests of God Service Program; and Dr. Fahd Al-Wahbi, general supervisor of the project.
