Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Ministry of Health confirmed that 96% of those hospitalized in intensive care due to seasonal influenza last year had not received the vaccine.

The ministry recommended the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible at the start of the seasonal influenza season. It urged people to book an appointment through the ministry’s Sehhaty application.

The ministry noted that the vaccine has proven effective in reducing the severity of infections, lowering the need for intensive care, and bringing down deaths related to seasonal flu.

The annual vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza aims to strengthen preventive health measures and achieve the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program, which focuses on promoting prevention, improving quality of life, and providing essential healthcare services and vaccines to protect public health.
