Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has foiled an attempt to smuggle 58,721 amphetamine (Captagon) pills at the Haditha border crossing after the drugs were found hidden inside a shipment entering the Kingdom.

ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi said the shipment arrived at the port labeled as “olive oil” and was transported on a truck. When the cargo underwent standard customs procedures and security scanning, inspectors discovered the concealed narcotics.

Al-Harbi stressed that ZATCA continues to strengthen customs controls across all entry and exit points of the Kingdom, remaining vigilant against smuggling attempts as part of its strategy to enhance security and protect society from harmful substances and other prohibited items.

He urged the public to support anti-smuggling efforts by reporting suspicious activities through the dedicated security hotline 1910, the email address 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international number 009661910.

He noted that all reports are handled with full confidentiality and that financial rewards may be granted if submitted information is verified.
