DOHA — Qatar will host an emergency Arab-Islamic summit on Sunday and Monday to discuss the Israeli attack on its capital, Qatar News Agency reported on Thursday.

The announcement comes as the Qatari Foreign Ministry strongly condemned statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who sought to justify the strike by criticizing Doha’s hosting of the Hamas office.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the ministry described the attack as a “cowardly” violation of Qatari sovereignty and warned against future threats.

Qatar said the Hamas office was hosted transparently as part of mediation efforts requested by the United States and Israel, facilitating ceasefire negotiations and humanitarian relief.

The ministry stressed that Netanyahu’s remarks were a “desperate attempt” to justify aggression and undermine Qatar’s credibility as a mediator.

The statement also rejected comparisons between Hamas and al-Qaeda, calling them false and reckless.

It warned that such rhetoric fuels instability and further isolates Israel internationally.

Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to international law and the UN Charter, calling on the global community to reject Netanyahu’s “Islamophobic and inciteful rhetoric” and to end distortions that obstruct peace efforts. — Agencies
