Saudi Gazette report

NEW YORK —
Mexican boxing superstar Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez and Cuban contender William Scull held their first press conference in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, setting the stage for their highly anticipated undisputed super middleweight title fight on May 3 at ANB Arena as part of Riyadh Season.

The event, attended by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), drew a strong presence from boxing fans and media.

The bout pits the experienced and battle-tested Canelo against the rising threat of Scull, who has established himself as one of the division’s most formidable contenders

Both fighters expressed their determination to claim victory. Canelo aims to reclaim his IBF title, which he previously lost, while Scull, fresh off his dominant victory over Vladimir Shishkin in October, enters the fight unbeaten and confident.

Fighting in Saudi Arabia for the first time has further fueled Canelo’s motivation. "This fight is very important to me. I never underestimate any opponent and always train at 100%," he said. "Scull has great skills, but there is only one Canelo. I will be ready to put on a spectacular show in Riyadh."

Scull, equally confident, stated, "I’m a well-prepared fighter, coming from a strong boxing school, and I feel in my best shape for this challenge. Sacrifice is the key to success, and I have sacrificed a lot to reach this moment. I promise a great fight on May 3—one that everyone will enjoy."
