RIYADH The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has implemented a range of services to ensure a safe, comfortable, and accessible environment for the elderly, enabling them to perform their worship in ease and comfort. These services are part of the authority’s broader commitment to providing comprehensive care and convenience for elderly visitors to the Grand Mosque.

One of the key initiatives is the provision of electric shuttle services, available in the eastern square to transport the elderly from the Gaza Bridge to the Al-Salam Basement. This service helps elderly worshippers easily navigate the mosque's vast area. Additionally, the authority has allocated large electric vehicles to assist the elderly in performing the Saa'i (the walking ritual between Safa and Marwah). These vehicles are stationed at various locations, including the Al-Marwah Stairway and elevators, the Al-Arqam Stairway and elevators, and the Al-Qarara Stairway. The Saa'i service is available on the second floor, with staff on hand to ensure the pilgrims' safety during their movement.

The Grand Mosque has also been equipped with prayer rooms specifically designed for the elderly and people with disabilities. These rooms are located in the King Fahd expansion on the first floor, near Gates 91 and 64. Additionally, specific gates, such as Gates 68 and 90, are outfitted with ramps and signage to accommodate electric vehicles, further enhancing accessibility for elderly worshippers.

Bridges and elevators, including the Ajyad, Al-Shobaika, Al-Arqam, and Al-Marwah bridges, as well as the Al-Arqam elevator and Al-Salam Basement, have been set up to streamline the movement of vehicles into the mosque. These measures collectively contribute to creating a welcoming environment, ensuring that elderly pilgrims can perform their religious duties without facing unnecessary difficulties.
