GEA cancels concert by American rapper

JEDDAH
— A scheduled music concert by American rapper Russ has been canceled, the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA) announced on Friday.

The concert was to be held at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Rabigh on Thursday, July 12, as part of the ongoing musical events in the Kingdom.

The GEA, which confirmed the cancelation in an official statement issued on Friday after the organizer committed a number of violations and failed to meet the terms of the license.

In its statement, the GEA said it had made its decision after a series of repeated violations by the organizer, including non-compliance with the requirement of prior coordination with the Authority, in terms of promotion campaigns and ticket sales. It pointed out that the violations were repeated despite receiving warnings on the need to correct the situation.

The GEA stressed the need for the organizer to refund the value of tickets sold, in accordance with the policies followed in such cases. It asked the organizer to always ensure the highest international standards applied in the field of customer service and avoid what may disappoint the public.

The GEA urged all event management companies to comply with by the requirements and rules set by the authority in order to get the license for recreational activities.
