JEDDAH — Saudi singer Rashid Al-Majed performed his greatest hits Friday night at Al-Jawhara sports auditorium to a full-capacity crowd to mark the end of a series of musical concerts organized by Rotana during Eid Al-Fitr celebrations.
The non-stop performance by the legendary singer captivated the audience for four hours.
Al-Majed and his band enthralled music lovers in the packed hall where he performed thrice in five days. The audience comprised both men and women.
Throughout the four-hour show, Al-Majed kept a constant bond with the audience, proving why he has managed to stay popular in an industry where a performer is only as good as his hits.
Al-Majed genuinely seems to care whether his audience is having a good time, and with his great performance, they couldn't help but enjoy themselves at his show.
He exceeded the expectations as soon as the clock struck 9:30 p.m. As the fans chanted his name, he took to the stage, and asked if they were ready to stay all night.
As the crowd roared "yes", he began working his magic on one and all with his old and new hits such as Sawlifak, Weinak Habibi, Wahshtni, Tafnan, Ash Min Shafak and Al-Mahba.
While the crowd sang with him his well-written lyrics, Al-Majed stopped and said, “This is a historical day in my life.”
The singer's first appearance in Jeddah attracted approximately 6,000 people, mostly women, who swayed joyously as the vocalist sang one hit after another, bringing the audience to their feet with each new rendition and powerhouse performance.
In conclusion, as he was standing on the stage to the shouts of cheering fans he brought everyone to their feet with his patriotic song "Ash Salman" (Long Live Salman).
