Charity Excellence Awards winners announced; SR1.875m distributed

JEDDAH — Winners of the Charity Excellence Awards were announced here on Wednesday by the General Secretariat of the awards with a total value of SR1.875 million distributed among the winners.

The three-category awards winners include charities, charitable projects & individuals. The “Best Charity Organization” was awarded to Nama’a Charity in Makkah region in the Human Relief Sector sub-category for Big Organizations (SR500,000). Al-Mawaddah Family Development won the Human Relief Sector sub-category for Small & Medium Organizations (SR250,000). The Holy Qur’an Memorization Society for Males in Buraidah

won the award in the Islamic Call & Education sub-category for Big Organizations (SR 500,000) and Sumu Society for the Holy Qur’an Memorization in Qunfuda got the award in the Islamic Call & Education sub-category for Small & Medium Organizations (SR 250,000).

The “Best Charitable Project” was awarded to Slysela Heritage Development Center (SR125,000); “Taif Governor’s Award for Successful Families” by Marriage & Family Development Society in Taif, and “Health Volunteering” by Al-Kawther Health Charity shared SR125,000.

The “Best Creative Idea” was awarded to “Rawabeh” by Abdul Rahman Bawazeer, “Falahi” by Abdullah Al Durain & “Nafham” by Khalid Al-Marhabi received SR25,000 each.

Two awards within this category have been withheld.

“The technical reports issued by the awards’ team have been studied carefully by professional experts,” said Abdullah Al-Rabiha, head of the supervising committee of “Charity Excellence Awards.

“These reports help us with the ongoing development to achieve organization excellence. The huge number of entries has encouraged us to continue with the awards in the third version,” he added.

Amjad Al-Tuwairish, executive director, Charity Excellence Awards, said:” The participants included 50 organizations, 31 projects & 118 creative ideas. The awards helped raise awareness about the importance of governance, excellence and quality assurance in the Saudi philanthropic organizations management.”

“The judges panel has relied on 9 major criteria and 35 sub-criteria which include 236 practices of excellence that can help raise the standards of philanthropic work in the Kingdom,” he said.
