JEDDAH — University of Business and Technology (UBT) held a celebration on Monday to mark the Kingdom' 84th National Day in the university campus on Monday.



The main theme of this celebration was Saudi Arabia in the coming 50 years, aiming to unlock students’ creative thoughts about Saudi Arabia on its National Day and the hopes for advances in different sectors including, education, technology, business, sports, entertainment and urban development.



The creative approach of the students was based on a survey that the college conducted on samples within and outside the university over different age range segments — 18-60 years old.



Dr. Nadia Baeshen, dean of CBA women campus in Jeddah, was honored to celebrate the National Day with her students. She said: “Today we awarded remarkable students who played amazing roles in community services. A student was awarded as Google ambassador in Saudi universities, another one was the first in Qur’an memorization in Makkah region, and others were awarded for their achievements in charity and philanthropy fields whether within the university community or in a wider scope outside the university.”



Corners representing diverse cultures in Saudi society were presented. Asiri corner, Najdi corner, Hejazi corner revealed the richness of the Kingdom’s culture and history.



Dr. Samar Shoaib from English Language Academy (ELA) led a team of students that represented the Asiri traditions. Dr. Shoaib said: “UBT gave us a great opportunity to represent the cultures of the Kingdom in the National Day and students of ELA were so enthusiastic.”



The celebration also hosted an exhibition of students’ creative projects in relation to the National Day in addition to the first of its kind, Augmented Reality poster exhibition. Two short documentary films made by students in relation to the National Day theme, showing the developments they would like to see in Saudi Arabia, were screened. this year and ends in 2065, with students writing their future thoughts about how they see the Kingdom in the coming 50 years.



Dr. Haneen Shoaib, vice dean of Jeddah College of Advertising, said: “We in Jeddah College of Advertising are proud to participate in the National Day and wish that Saudi Arabia will be one of the strong blocks of development.”
