JEDDAH — The Engineers Welfare Forum (EWF) held a workshop on "Pakistan a Way Forward" at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Thursday.
Vice Chairman of JCCI Mazen Batterjee graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Apart from Pakistani engineers, many guests from Saudi Council of Engineers, popular Arab businessmen like Osama Qubani and other professionals participated in the workshop.
The program started with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'anic verses Engineer Muhammad Asif.
General Secretary of EWF Engineer Masroor Elahi conducted the proceeding.
President of EWF Dr. Abdul Aleem Khan enlightened the audience about the forum's activities.
The forum is working with JCCI and VTI training institute, a first Pak- Saudi educational joint venture.
EWF also has MOU from Saudi Council of Engineers to work together on developing engineering professional activities.
He expressed his gratitude to the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz for the fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and hosting million of Pakistanis workers in the Kingdom.
Head of JCCI Engineer Talal Samarkandi spoke “Individual Development.
President of Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) - Saudi Chapter Engineer Syed Jaleel Hassan, delivered his talk on "Engineering Development is the key to Industry."
He said that 57 percent of the world’s project are related to engineering.
Managing Director of Pakistan Pakistan Elektron Ltd (PEL) Haroon Khan was the key note speaker.
He highlighted the challenges Pakistanis face today in terms of three Es - economy, energy and extremism.
He said that the present government has taken serious initiatives on activating several power projects.
Batterjee congratulated the EWF for holding an informative workshop.
He said: "Pakistanis are talented and helping Saudi Arabia’s development and JCCI and EWF will develop the talent and skills of Saudis and Pakistani workers through Vocational Training Institute which will conduct 15 important workshop to improve their skills."
Shields were given to Haroon Khan, Batterjee, and engineers Zaheer Qayum, Humayun Hussain Taqi and Syed Ehsanul Haque.
Chairman of the Advisory Board Engieer Altaf Hussain Awan presented the concluding remarks on the presentations delivered by the speakers in the workshop.
