Every girl dreams of being a princess and of wearing a beautiful, shimmering gown. In being gentle with animals, kind to all people, and learning to walk gracefully, every girl can indeed be a true princess. With your good manners, the beauty that God gave you, and your elegance, you are a princess.
Whether it is Snow White or Belle or Aurora or Cinderella or who you like most, you could be a princess too.
The Walt Disney Company gave young girls in Saudi Arabia and other nearby countries the chance to become a Disney Princess. Disney Company invited all girls between 4 and 8 years of age to take part in a contest of designing, drawing, and coloring a beautiful princess gown.
Over 348 girls entered the contest and sent in the drawings of the gowns they created for their favorite princess.
The judges admitted that all drawings were creative and beautiful, which shows that the young girls who entered the contest are very talented and gifted. These young girls may one day become successful fashion designers or artists.
Results of the contest were announced on June 11 at a fun and unique event held in Jeddah at Al-Segala Restaurant — much like a grand ball to celebrate the winning princesses.
A pleasant surprise for the winners was that their design of the gown, which they had drawn for the contest, was actually made and sewn on a doll of their favorite princess. The gown was also tailor-made for each girl to wear and keep as a royal gift.
One of the judges, well-known fashion designer Tamara Al-Gabbani, mentioned that she was delighted to see that the young girls were interested in art.
“This contest highlighted the talents of budding artists in the Middle East. The contest aims to promote creativity and innovativeness from a young age, and will encourage girls to pursue a career in fashion designing,” said Tamara Al-Gabbani.
The Disney Princess contest will be repeated again next year, but until then, always work on improving your skills and practicing what you learn, so that next year you can be a winner too.
Even if you did not win at any contest, by putting all your heart into what you do, whether it is in the arts or math and science or your household chores and always wearing a smile on your face, you too can be a princess in your family.
