JEDDAH — Literary organizations Aalami Urdu Markaz (AUM) and Majlis-e-Iqbal is jointly holding an Iqbal Day function today at Spicy Restaurant (Old Lasani) at 9:00 pm.



Speaking to Saudi Gazette, popular Urdu poet and President of AUM Ather Hussain Abbasi confirmed that Consul General Pakistan Aftab Ahmed Khokher will grace the occasion as the chief guest.



Dr. Mohammed Sohail Omer, director of Iqbal Academy-Pakistan, has arrived from Pakistan to speak on Iqbal’s stature as thinker, philosopher, poet and visionary.



Dr. Irfan Hashmi, chairman of Majlis-e-Iqbal, and other prominent members of the subcontinent community will also shed light on the life and works of the celebrated poet. Aamir Khurshid of AUM will host the proceedings.
