JEDDAH — Noted Indian expatriate scholar and preacher Muhammad T.H. Darimi is going back after spending 20-years in the Kingdom.

In honor of Darimi’s services to the Indian community, prominent leader of Indian Union Muslim League Panakkad Sayyid Hyderali Shihab Thangal presented him a memento of Kerala Muslim Cultural Center during a function in Jeddah on Tuesday.

Several Jeddah-based community organizations organized farewell parties for him.

Darimi thanked the members of the community for their whole-hearted support and cooperation.

“I praise Almighty Allah for giving me an opportunity to serve the community and engage in Dawah work at the gateway of the two holy mosques,” he said.

Darimi has worked with Al-Noor International School-Jeddah for 13 years as a teacher of Islamic studies and as a legal adviser.

As a founding chairman of the Jeddah Islamic Center, he played a commendable role in Dawah work among the Indian community through delivering periodic lecturers and classes based on the Qur’an, Hadith and Islamic history. He has also served as the president of the Sunni Youth Organization, director of the Jeddah Keralite Goodwill Forum (Sauhruda Vichara Vedi), and resource person of the Center for Information and Guidance of India (CIGI). He also attended course for Islamic propagators conducted by the Jeddah Jaliyat.

Darimi, who started his career in the Kingdom with a job at a bookstore, is a well-known author and orator.

He has authored more than a dozen books, including a study titled “Islamic Personality,” and a Saudi travelogue, based on his visit to many historical places in the Kingdom.

Back home, Darimi has plans to join the Shariah and Arts College, Melattoor in Malappuram district of Kerala as its principal.
