RIYADH — Minister of Islamic Affairs Call and Guidance Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sheikh confirmed that the use of external loudspeakers by mosques will not be permitted during prayers throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The minister clarified that use of external loudspeakers will be limited to the call to prayer (Adhan) and the iqama (the second call to prayer) only.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance issued on Tuesday a circular consisting a set of instructions and guidelines for preparation of mosques during the month of Ramadan.

The circular emphasized adherence to the Adhan times according to the Umm al-Qura calendar and the call to prayer for Isha (night prayer) at the designated time, while also observing the duration of the iqama after the Adhan for each prayer.

The ministry highlighted the arrangement of iftar meals in designated courtyard areas and stressed the responsible management of water donations to serve mosque requirements, discouraging the accumulation of large quantities in storage facilities.

The circular instructed the relevant departments to enhance the efforts of mosque caretakers and maintenance teams, ensuring that mosques are clean and fully prepared, with particular attention to women’s prayer areas.

The ministry remains dedicated to serving mosques and ensuring that worshippers receive the highest level of organization and care during the holy month.
