RIYADH — The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the United States’ decision to classify branches of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon as terrorist organizations.
In a statement, the ministry said the US designation reflects a shared commitment to combating extremism and terrorism, reaffirming the Kingdom’s support for international efforts that enhance the security, stability, and prosperity of Arab countries, as well as regional and global security.
On Tuesday, the United States officially designated the Muslim Brotherhood — specifically its branches in the three countries — as a foreign terrorist organization.
The move follows an executive order issued by Donald Trump directing US authorities to begin blacklisting the group.
