RIYADH — The Public Prosecution has emphasized that disclosing personal data without legal authorization is a crime punishable by law. It stressed that privacy protection is a fundamental pillar guaranteed by the Personal Data Protection Law.

The Public Prosecution clarified that data disclosure includes any unauthorized attempt to enable others to obtain, use, or access personal data by any means and for any purpose. It explained that disclosing sensitive data with the intent to harm the concerned person or to gain personal benefit is a serious offense, as it constitutes a direct violation of privacy and individual rights.

The Public Prosecution affirmed that this type of crime is subject to criminal prosecution, as stipulated in the Personal Data Protection Law, emphasizing that there will be no leniency in applying penalties to anyone proven to be involved in data misuse.

The Public Prosecution called on individuals and entities to comply with relevant regulations and instructions, raise awareness of the importance of protecting personal data, and avoid any practices that may lead to its leakage or misuse.
