RIYADH — The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced that the upcoming Red Line extension of the Riyadh Metro will significantly enhance access to Diriyah, cutting travel times and strengthening connectivity between the historic destination and key areas across the capital.

According to the commission, the extension will allow passengers to travel from STC Station to Diriyah in under 15 minutes, while journeys from the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Station are expected to take less than 20 minutes.

The improved connectivity will also enable travel from King Fahd Sports City Station to Diriyah in under 40 minutes, and from Qasr Al-Hukm Station in less than 30 minutes, marking a major reduction in travel times and improving overall mobility within Riyadh.

The announcement follows the RCRC’s earlier confirmation of an 8.4-kilometer extension of the Red Line toward Diriyah, a project designed to support the capital’s expanding public transport network and accommodate rising demand for efficient, sustainable mobility.

The extension includes the construction of 7.1 kilometers of deep underground tunnels, 1.3 kilometers of elevated tracks, and five new stations, enhancing direct access to Diriyah while integrating seamlessly with the existing metro system.
