RIYADH — The Jeddah Mayoralty will start disconnecting and removing utilities from dilapidated buildings in Al-Ruwais neighborhood of Jeddah onTuesday. The General Directorate of Emergency and Crisis Management has completed the notification process for 1,011 buildings in the first phase, and demolition orders have been issued for them by the Committee for Dilapidated Buildings.

The demolition orders were issued after all regulatory procedures were completed, and the owners were given the legally mandated grace period before implementation begins. The disconnection and removal of services will be carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities, in preparation for completing the demolition work according to the approved plan.

This comes as part of the mayoralty's ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, protect lives and property, and address the conditions of dilapidated buildings that pose a danger to residents and the urban environment.

The mayoralty continues its efforts to monitor and address buildings that pose a risk to public safety in various districts of the governorate, in line with the objectives of improving the urban landscape, enhancing the quality of life, and achieving a safe and sustainable urban environment.

These measures fall within a comprehensive urban plan aimed at improving the physical landscape and elevating the overall urban environment in Jeddah.
