NCM reports near-freezing temperatures during mid-year school vacation

JEDDAH — The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) on Thursday released the lowest temperatures recorded across Saudi Arabia and outlined its weather outlook for the remainder of the mid-year school vacation, forecasting continued cold conditions and rainfall in several regions.

According to the NCM, the lowest temperatures recorded on Thursday reached 3°C in Al-Qurayyat, 4°C in Khamis Mushait, and 5°C in both Abha and Turaif.

The center said cold weather is expected to persist during nighttime and early morning hours throughout the rest of the mid-year break, particularly across the Kingdom’s northern regions and the southern highlands.

These conditions may be accompanied by fog formation and frost in parts of Madinah, Al-Jawf, Asir, Al-Baha and the Eastern Province.

The NCM also forecast rainfall toward the end of the week over parts of Tabuk, Al-Jawf, the Northern Borders, Hail, Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah.

In addition, daytime active winds capable of raising dust are expected in parts of Tabuk, Al-Jawf, the Northern Borders, Hail, Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah, with effects extending to Qassim, Riyadh and the Eastern Province.
