RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority announced on Saturday the seizure of 969 smuggling cases at the Kingdom’s land, sea, and air customs ports during the last week. The seized items include 69 types of narcotics, 448 types of prohibited substances, 1,936 types of tobacco and its derivatives, 5 types of financial items, and 12 types of weapons and related materials.
The authority affirmed its commitment to strengthening customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports so as to ensure the security and protection of society, through continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners. The authority urged the public to participate in combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by calling over the security reporting number, 1910.
This number receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law with complete confidentiality. The authority offered financial reward to whistleblowers if the information provided by them is found to be true.
